Overview

The California State Seal of Civic Engagement (SSCE) is a prestigious recognition awarded to high school students who demonstrate a commitment to active citizenship and civic responsibility. This seal is affixed to the student’s diploma and transcript, highlighting their dedication to making a positive impact in their community.

Eligibility Requirements

To earn the State Seal of Civic Engagement, students must:

  • Maintain passing grades or be on track to graduate.
  • Earn a C or better in at least two history/social science courses.
  • Complete a Civic Engagement Project or Activity that demonstrates their involvement in addressing a community or societal issue.
  • Apply by April 1st to be considered for the seal.
