As always, please make sure that your student attends school every day. We know the connection between daily attendance and student achievement. Grades and performance on classroom and school wide assessments are a direct reflection of a student’s attendance habits, so please help us to make attendance a priority! We appreciate your support with this critical component of student success.

We are proud to announce that our attendance rate continues to improve! Thanks to all families for understanding how important it is that all students maintain at least 95% attendance. When students are absent, we miss them, and they miss important instruction and fall behind very quickly. We appreciate your support with this critical habit of success!

Seniors take the CAST science test this Tuesday and Wednesday during their government/econ class period. Please encourage your senior to do his/her best on this assessment.

A Special Message for Juniors – SAT Testing Today!
March 6, 2019

Tomorrow is an important day for your student. All juniors take the SAT test, which colleges and employers use to identify skill level and college and career readiness. The SAT tests students’ ability in two areas: Reading/Writing and Math.

The scores appear on the student’s transcript.

It is critical that students do their very best on this assessment. Please make sure that your child gets a complete night’s rest and eats a nutritional breakfast at home or at school. The test begins first thing in the morning, and usually takes about 4.5 hours.

Almost 500 Rosemont students had 97% attendance for the first semester!! We need many more of our students to attend school at least 95% of the time. PLEASE make sure that your student understands the value of good attendance and comes to school every day, unless they are seriously ill or experience a true emergency situation. We miss our students when they aren’t here, and they fall behind very quickly. Reach out if you would like any support to improve your child’s attendance. We’re here to help.

Next Friday, we begin the Blues in the Schools program where we work with a local blues musician and learn the blues form (America’s (via Africa) contribution to the world of music) and will perform in an all ages showcase with bands from West Campus and Woodcreek. We are seeking musicians and singers! The group will be meeting at 3:15 on Fridays (starting March 1st) in J-112 culminating in a performance in May.

Just another reminder to make sure that students attend school every day, except in the case of illness or an unavoidable emergency. Students who miss 10% of the school year, which equates to just two days per month, are identified as “chronically absent.” Students who are chronically absent are at risk for achieving academically at lower levels than students with consistent attendance. They can also lack a “connectedness” to school, including participation in activities and the ability to form close, meaningful relationships with both students and staff.
