Great News for ESEA!!
Last Friday 4 ESEA teams participated in the 12th annual SMUD solar car races at American River College. Nearly fifty teams from 10 local high schools braved the cool/cloudy weather and were rewarded with just enough UV light to actually race! Once again Rosemont High School represented very well: the team of Mario Gonzales, Rene Espinosa-Pacheco, and Juan Camarillo-Segura placed 3rd in the finals, and the team of Adelaido Macario-Rodriguez, Jessie Fowler and Yakelin Prado won the Judges’ Award for best design. Along with the competition, ARC held a Technology and Arts Festival, which the students were able to visit.
This week in sports we saw many of our seniors compete as
Wolverines for their final time. In baseball, our boys won
4 games in a row, dating back to Tuesday 4/26, capped off by a
sweep of rival Cordova. The team finished in a 4-way tie for
first place! Unfortunately, our league only takes 3 teams
to playoffs, and after all the tie-breaker scenarios we are left
out. Our team will still be recognized with a league banner
to be hung in the gym.
Our tennis team earned a 1st round bye due to their stellar regular season. In round 2, the team beat Delhi High School and won 6-3! The team will travel to play Lindhurst High School on Monday, 5/9, in the quarterfinals. Individually, Tommy Trinh (singles), Alexis Nguyen (singles), and Madison Bettis/Christina Kim (doubles) all qualified for the individual section tournament. Madison and Christina won their first two rounds and will now move on to the Semis this Thursday. Good luck to all our Tennis players!
Track and Field have their league finals this Tuesday and Thursday at El Dorado High School. Softball will finish up their regular season with games on Monday and Tuesday and are in the driver’s seat to make the playoffs as the 3rd seed from our league! Good luck Wolverines!
