March 14, 2015

This is a very busy time of year, so please log on to and go to the “Upcoming Events & Calendar” tab for important events, dates and deadlines.

On Tuesday and Wednesday of this week, sophomores will take the CAHSEE exam and freshmen will take a practice CAHSEE exam to prepare them for next year.  Freshmen and sophomores have been told to check for their name and room number in the windows of the library or cafeteria prior to the first testing period on Tuesday. Teachers will remind them again tomorrow during 6th period. Both days are full-day schedules, so juniors and seniors must attend the entire school day even though they will not be testing. They will report to the cafeteria at 8:00, and participate in a number of fun activities during the test period. Lunch is at 12:25 followed by several class periods in the afternoon.

Senior Parent and Student Information Night is this Wednesday, March 18th from 6 – 7:30 p.m. in the Cafeteria.

Friday, March 20th is the Spotlight Talent Night. This event is from 6 – 8 p.m. in the Large Theater. Admission is $2 for adults, $1 for students and is FREE for kids under the age of 12.

Junior Prom is this coming Saturday from 8 – 11 p.m. in the Rosemont Gym.
A few highlights from this week in Rosemont sports:

  • Our tennis team beat both Liberty Ranch and El Dorado
  • Girls soccer beat Mira Loma
  • Our swim team lost to Liberty Ranch but beat Florin
  • Track ran at Bear Creek’s Invitational Meet.
  • Softball lost 3 games and won 2 in this week’s play.
  • Boys Varsity Baseball has only lost 1 game – to Del Campo.

A special thanks to Coach Mattingly and several of our Baseball players who came out to Opening Day for Rosemont Little League at Rosemont Park. Our players took part in the parade and judged the homemade team sign contest. The family of Tyler Vargas, who recently lost their father, threw in the first pitch. It was a great day, filled with emotion and excitement.

In order to raise funds for Grad Night, the PTSA is sponsoring a golf tournament on Saturday, May 9th at the Cordova Golf Course. The day begins with a free breakfast at Perko’s. Golf follows until the Awards Ceremony at noon. Tickets are $60 for each individual golfer and $220 for a team of four.  The goal is for each senior to get two cart sponsorships. We need all seniors to get out there and get people to sign up! Tournament flyers and sponsorship forms are available in the front office.

Remember that these and other mid-week messages are also posted on under “Principal’s Message.” Have a great week, Wolverines!
