Please check Infinite Campus regularly to make sure that students are passing every one of their classes and attending school every day. Finishing the year with a strong academic showing is critical, so please contact teachers and counselors if you have any concerns.

As the weather warms up, dress code requirements become a larger concern. A few important reminders: We do not allow strapless tops, spaghetti straps, short shorts, or midriffs. Students will not be allowed to attend classes if they are wearing those items. For the complete dress code, please visit the Student Handbook, which is posted on our website.

CAASPP Testing continues this week. All students go to their 1st, 3rd and 5th period classes on Monday and 2nd, 4th, and 6th periods on Tuesday. Wednesday through Friday are regular days. Students are released at the normal time every day.

This week in sports, our girls softball program swept our rival, Cordova HS, on Thursday. Varsity won by a score of 12-3, highlighted by Samantha Netherton’s homerun! JV also took care of business by the score of 17-2! Baseball lost a pair of games to league leader, Liberty Ranch HS. Golf took the loss in their match versus El Dorado HS, but are showing great improvement – especially Salomon Villeda Garcia, who has had at least 1 par in each of his last two rounds. Champions again! For the 3rd year in a row, Mrs. Tomczak and the tennis team have won the league title! They edged out Liberty Ranch by a score of 5-4 to take the crown. Outstanding job to coach Tomczak and our Tennis Team!

Christine Daniels has been selected as the Stellar Student for the May 4th meeting of the Board of Education. She will lead the Pledge of Allegiance and then receive special recognition from the Board. If anyone would like to attend to support her, please be sure to be at Serna no later than 6:30 PM. The presentation is at or near the beginning of the meeting.

Sheila Santos submitted a truly amazing painting for the SCUSD SEL “Art of Compassion” contest. In part, the piece represents her vision of harmony and shared respect among all people. Her artwork will be on display at the “Art of Compassion” Showcase at the Serna Center on Friday, April 28th from 5 – 8 pm.

The spring play is almost here! Please put one or more of these dates on your calendar: Wednesday, May 3rd, Thursday, May 4th, Wednesday May 10th, and Thursday, May 11th. Start time is 7:00 in the Auditorium. Refreshments are served before the play begins and also during admission. Please come out to support our drama program!
