Back-to-School Night is Thursday, September 27th from 6 – 7:30 pm. As we get closer to the event, we will provide detailed information about the rotation schedule.

The first general meeting of the PTSA is just before Back-to-School Night on Thursday, September 27th at 5:45 pm in the Cafeteria.

Last week, your student received a copy of the District’s annual parent and student rights handbook in the First Day packet. A parent survey was included. Known as the Local Control Funding Formula data collection survey, the results, when reported to the State, directly affect District and site funding allocations. Your data is essential to ensure Rosemont receives what it is due. Please complete this survey and return it to the school by October 31. Your help is much appreciated!

If you haven’t already, PLEASE have your student return the completed forms from the First Day Packet. The emergency card and LCFF form are critical!!!! We must have forms for every Rosemont student.

Two of our students, senior Simone Hall and junior Jacquez Cosby, attended the Brave New Voices International Youth Poetry Slam in Houston last July, competing against 250+ teams to win the title of International Slam Champions. Themes of  their poetry included self-expression, black social activism, and gun control.

Simone and Jacquez are a part of Youth Speaks, an organization that promotes social literacy through academics and poetry. They also performed before the EGUSD for the “Power of I” Conference at the Grand Sheraton Hotel last Saturday and had the opportunity to speak with the EGUSD Superintendent, Chris Hoffman, who emailed this message…

“I wanted you to know that I ran into Simone Hall, Senior at RHS this weekend. You may know that she is part of Sacramento Area Youth Speaks (SAYS) and she and a few other kids from  across the Sacramento area performed at the EGUSD Power of 1 Conference on Saturday. Very powerful message. I took the opportunity to sit and learn a bit more about Simone and her team  and came away even more impressed.”

A dozen of our students also participate in SAYS and are now published in an anthology of poetry that is distributed throughout Sacramento!

JV won 21-0 and varsity lost 36-28 in two hard-fought contests against Kennedy High School Friday night. First league game is on Friday, 28th against Union Mine @ Union Mine.
