November 25, 2018

We hope that everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Break! We’re excited to see students back tomorrow, November 26th.

As we move through the second quarter of school, please take time to reinforce the importance of good work habits, including daily attendance, with your student. Meeting graduation and A-G requirements, which ensures that they have the greatest number of postsecondary options, requires that they earn grades of “C” or better in their classes. If they are struggling, they should work with their teachers and their counselor. If they miss school, they should make up any work that they miss within the acceptable timeline.

We are almost ready to start our Saturday Academy, a great opportunity for the site and the district to recoup ADA and an opportunity for students who have missed school to participate in a variety of enriching, fun learning experiences and clear their absences! Possible activities include test prep, credit recovery, reading and math intervention, sports/ PE, and enrichment. The first session is scheduled for Saturday, December 15th. Each session runs from 8:15 am – 12:30 pm. Students may order free meals through the RSVP letter or by notifying the Lead Teacher. Transportation is not provided. Soon, we will notify students who should attend to clear their absences.

If any families used the online form to report your student’s absence between November 15th and 19th, we were experiencing issues related to the district network. Please resubmit any absences that were previously reported online between these dates. We apologize for any inconvenience, and hope this doesn’t happen again in the future.

Any parent who would like to join us to share ideas for our WASC Self-Study is welcome to participate in this process! We meet again this Wednesday, November 28th at 6:30 pm in the Library.
