This week, juniors take the Math CAASPP assessment. All students will follow a block schedule every day except Thursday. On Monday and Wednesday, students attend periods 1, 3, and 5. On Tuesday and Friday, students attend periods 2, 4, and 6.

We will also hold a junior assembly this Thursday, May 18th, to provide students with information about Senior Project for next year.

Rosemont is now a part of the 1,000-strong year-round employment program supported by Mayor Steinberg. To enroll, students must be a junior or senior and be 16 years old by June 16, 2017. They must be able to work at least 25 hours per week during the summer, continue working 7 – 10 hours per week during the school year and attend a 40-hour workplace skills training program during a week in June. Apply by May 19th at ThousandStrong.org. Representatives from the program will be on campus this week during lunch to speak with students about this opportunity.

Congratulations to Christine Daniels and Kyron Mahan, who will be recognized as outstanding seniors at the Richard Pan Event at the Capitol this Wednesday evening.

Track and Field – Congratulations to the track and field team for a strong performance at league finals. We will be moving on in 8 events on the mens varsity side and 11 events on the womens varsity side to the divisional championships at CSU Stanislaus next week.  At the varsity level, we had the following League Champions: Jaylen Ward in the 200 meters, David Lyubezhanin in the Triple Jump, and Mele Vaiomo¹Unga in the discus and shot-put (including smashing the school record in shot-put by 4 feet this season). We also had League Champions in the Mens 4×100 (Chris Guinto, Harry Vu, Justin Long, and Jaylen Ward) and the Womens 4×400 (Bailey Linn, Niah Tidwell, Diana Mensah, and Nashayla Warren).

For frosh/soph, Emily Gogue is a league champ for the 300 girls hurdles, and Temuulen Gankkhugag is a league champ for the 300 boys hurdles. Idris Amiri was also a league champ for the boys long jump.

Softball – After finishing second in league, our Lady Wolverines will host Lindhurst High School in the first round of the playoffs this Tuesday (5/16/17) at 4pm. The team finished with 5 players earning All-League honors. Good luck in the playoffs, ladies!
